Questions We Get a Lot

A floor burnisher operates at high speeds, typically 1,000 to 3,000 RPM or higher, generating the friction needed to bring a hard floor coating to a high-gloss finish. A floor buffer runs at much lower speeds, usually around 175 RPM, and is better suited for scrubbing, stripping, or applying solution. If your goal is a polished, reflective surface on vinyl, marble, or sealed concrete, a burnisher is the right tool for that task.

Burnishers are designed for hard, sealed floor surfaces, including vinyl composition tile, linoleum, polished concrete, marble, and terrazzo. They are not intended for use on unsealed wood, carpet, or any surface that cannot handle the heat generated by high-speed friction. Always verify that your floor coating is rated for burnishing before operating.

Corded burnishers deliver uninterrupted power for facilities where continuous runtime matters most, and they eliminate the need to manage battery charge cycles. Battery-powered units give you freedom of movement in large open spaces without cord management, which can improve safety and efficiency on expansive floor plans. Consider your facility layout, available power access, and how many square feet you need to cover per shift when making that decision.

We offer 30-Day Returns on equipment purchased through Vertex Equipment Supply. If the unit does not meet your operational requirements, please review our Return Policy for full eligibility details and next steps. We recommend reaching out to our team before purchase if you have questions about fit, so we can help you select the right machine from the start.

About Our Floor Burnishers

Floor burnishers are high-speed rotational machines designed to restore gloss and maintain the surface integrity of sealed hard floors in commercial and institutional environments. Where standard scrubbing equipment removes soil, a burnisher's primary function is finishing: using sustained rotational speed and pad pressure to heat and polish floor coatings into a consistent, reflective surface. Facilities that rely on them include healthcare buildings, retail stores, schools, warehouses, and hospitality properties where floor appearance is directly tied to professional standards. When evaluating a burnisher for your operation, the most important factors are pad speed measured in RPM, power source, deck width relative to your square footage per shift, and whether the machine's weight and drive type suit your operators and floor plan. Corded models offer uninterrupted runtime, while battery-powered units remove cord management from the equation entirely. The right burnisher is one that matches your floor type, your shift demands, and your facility's physical layout, not simply the highest-output machine available.
